When I started working on this piece, I aimed to make a seam ring with the stone inlay following the outside curve. I settled on a gorgeous specimen of Chrysoprase from Australia. As I began carving it into a shape and holding the stone against the ring, this tapered shark tooth look materialized.
Once I started working on the stone setting, it was obvious the back needed to be open, so it is. The Chrysoprase has incredible color, and if it ever catches light from behind, it's ready to glow. This is a weird one, but I like it a lot.
